Oh my! I had so much fun today! I (along with two other leaders) took some of our girls to the 100 years of Guiding rally here in Calgary. There were over 2000 girls ranging from Sparks (the five and six year olds) to leaders well into their 60s.
The opening ceremonies took us through the decades of guiding here in Canada with Joanne (from Don, Joanne and the Coach radio crew) as the MC. Then it was round robin time. There was a station where the girls sent morse code messages and the messages went the furthest were ones received in Russia and Siberia!
We all ate our bagged lunches then it was onto the afternoon round robins. The last station was learning the new song that was written for the 100 years and the actions. The girls made all the leaders go up on stage and sing the song afterwards. (Of course that will be the part that the girls remember) lol.
We had our 'campfire' sing song and the closing ceremonies. We lucked out and had a gorgeous day! We all had so much fun!
Our guiding year is wrapping up and I can't wait for next year!
Here is to another 100 years of Guiding and empowering girls and women in Canada!
